I was in the gifted program when I was in school. At the elementary level, it's great...lot's of individualized learning, tailored to the student. Once at the HS level, it's less selective, mixing gifted with standard education. It works for some...it didn't work for me. I learned more by going to the local college library with my older brother than I did through the HS.

My son qualified for the gifted program in Ohio...yet his mother refused to put him in it. I moved him here, and the district puts teachers with tenure that don't want to be there in charge of the program...which is why my son dropped advanced math this school year. He'll be in it again at the HS level next year.

Congrats to your kids for being so damned smart! I wish you and your kids the best of luck in the program!!
