The problem with some of the aftermarket water pumps is that the clearance between the impellers and the housing is too big. Therefore it doesn't move as much coolant and causes overheating. A rebuilt pump for my 240D was about $26 from the dealer. Prices on water pumps for some models dropped to dirt cheap prices a few years ago. Definitely use an official MB part for this repair.
