After I hit a median curb with my oil pan and majorly cracked it, (huge downpour with standing water on the road, dark, road went from undivided to divided unbeknownst to me, and the curb was pretty much submerged) my indy was able to put a new oil pan in without removing the engine. He did have to raise it a good bit, take off steering links, etc. Not a cheap undertaking.
