I have had this problem off and on since the late 1990s.

When I had a Volvo 740 Turbo (2.3l 4 cyl) it was insured as a 760 (V6). Significant as back then the word 'turbo' usually made a big difference in rates. According to the company, however no such thing as a Volvo 740 Turbo ever existed.

My 1979 300sd was a 450se for some time.

My current 1980 300td is described as a sedan in their database.
