last summer changed the water pump on my 1991 W124.128. Old unit had the
number 603 201 01 10 and the MB Star. On the shaft, impeller side, is stamped in INA which is a devision of the Schaeffler Group. Pump was not giving me trouble yet but thought time to change as car passed 130K miles. Sourced a pump made by SKF, Svenska Kugellagerfabriken. Unit marked made in Germany and has a metal impeller.
For the r&r removed the alt. bracket which is held in place by 5 bolts. In order to remove the Allen head screw located in the front of the bracket the balancer's cutout has to be over this screw. Local MB dealer quoted me $ 200.00 for the pump.
