I think prostitution is legal in many states but people don't know. Same as mentioned in the article, brothels, pimping and street hooking are illegal but prostitution is legal.

Age of consent laws were also very liberal in Canada a few years back.

We've been getting along just fine with legal and regulated prostitution in Nevada for decades. I don't know why it's illegal in other places. A prostitute agrees to do things she/he doesn't necessarily want to do with people she/he doesn't necessarily like in exchange for money. Fundamentally, that's no different from my job in a warehouse.
