I've seen posts with varying results. Other components which can contribute to harsh ride are front shocks and front/rear suspension bushings which are a wear part and require regular replacement. Surprised MB dealer couldn't do a better job of analysis. FYI, if interested, there are a couple of good DIY's on accumulator replacement for the W210. Not difficult and the parts are only about $250 including fluid and filter.
