Some VIN decoders call the car a 190Japan but the car came from mainland Europe. I got the build sheet from the classic center and it does not say Japan on it though. Someone suggested that may be why my reverse is in a different place than other 190s I have been in, that is the RHD shifter. If anyone would know it would be you Doctor, so why do I have a dogleg reverse?

Of course, this isn't a J-version. And there is not an RHD shifter, of course.
The scheme with dog-leg reverse gear was used from 01/1988 (four-gate shift) on all w201 models.

Salut!
