My brother really wanted to get a new computer as his old 2005 XP machine died so he decided to go full out. He researched and researched and researched then saved enough money to build this computer, a super fast machine, probably saved about $500 total through sales and such. My dad has been building computers for years and we helped him when we were little.
Here is a parts/specs list:
-Intel i7-4820K 3.7GHz Quad Core processor-
-Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler-
-Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard-
-G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory-
-Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk-
-EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card-
-EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply-
This is all in a NZXT Switch 810 ATX Full Tower Case which is absolutely huge. The operating system is 8.1 Pro, he also plans to install Linux at some point. He bought a nice gaming headset. He still need a better mouse, keyboard and monitor.
This is much nicer than my 2007 or so Dell system, it shipped with Vista business

(which I never had crash surprisingly) but now has 8.1 Pro as well.
