I think I'm combining two sets of information on this. The person who wrote this guide re-installed the old seals after cleaning and found it to be sufficient. Someone else replaced the seals with o-rings, and found them to work adequately. They are over on benzworld as well. They bought a bunch of o-rings that they said were just the right size, and then offered to mail them for free to anyone who asked, since they had lots of extras. A nice gesture...

Anyway I have two of these o-rings in hand now thanks to him. I guess I'll try them sometime, if the need arises. I only learned about the possibility to refresh the old one AFTER already buying my new one for my '79. My '85 uses the new, cheaper style.
