The actual gas pedal. Take the carpet and rugs out of the driver's footwell. The gas pedal is held-in at the bottom by pin at the bottom. Take it out and check the back and also its hinge flex. Often this is where the problem is.

If not, it helps to view up into the gas pedal linkage and pivot.
