Depends on the weight of oil that you choose. The classic 20w50 blends usually have enough zinc whereas the lighter weight oils such as 5w30 does not because it's designed for the more modern car and from what I've read, the zinc can damage cats.

If you feel that an additive will give you more security, by all means use it, it certainly wont hurt anything.
