Since water sits at the bottom I thought best to take it out and at least try to pour the water out. I've put some oil in through the fuel supply, its currently hanging upsidedown, Im hoping to push the water out with the oil sitting on top. After watching various videos, Ive come to the conclusion to not take the pump apart as its just too complicated. So, am I wasting my time? can I hook up the injector pump whilst its out of the engine and pump the fluid out? The engine is an LD28 Nissan. Thanks for any help
Doesn't sound too hopeful to me but you have nothing to loose by giving it a go (other than your time and perhaps some oil).

I would however have left the pump on the engine and cranked new clean diesel through using temporary containers for the fuel supply and return.

The tank and the fuel lines need to be sorted before they get used again.
