Good Morning All,
I just got an email from a customer of mine in Italy. A tachometer unit that I shipped to him was damaged in shipping. The tachometer shaft has broken off from the galvanometer unit. That what it looks like in photo at least.
Before
After
I'm at a complete loss for words and disheartened. I take a lot of pride in working on these old pieces and I try my best to package things to avoid damage in anyway. When I first started this repair venture years ago, a customer had an amplifier that arrived with a bent pin and ever since then I've used excessive amounts of packing material.
Could I be wrong, could the shaft be just disconnected somehow and can be re-attached?
Does anyone have a tachometer unit they would be interested in selling?
I could have him ship it back to me, at my expense, and replace the galvanometer unit with that of another tachometer. That is probably the best course of action.
Let me know what you think guys.
Thanks
-Kris
