The caps David is referring to are "spring pads" and you should check if, for some odd reason, they are not the same. They are identified by the number of "bumps" that are molded onto the lower edges of the pads so that they are visible with the coil springs still in place.

If you haven't already, consider swapping the dampers to see if the height difference is specific to the damper.
