It will fit the later motors as far as I know -- I transplanted a motor from a 1985 300sd into my 1979 300sd and kept the original transmission -- but the .120 has a throttle position sensing rod, not the Bowden arrangement.

This means you lose the part-throttle kickdown that later turbodiesel models had. (Well it wasn't there on my w116, anyway.)

In modern traffic it's a bit of an irritant. You can shift down manually, of course.
