Since the manifold vac connector went straight to Vac Gauge. Maybe i was shoving too much air into the pistons?. I unplugged the vac gauge hose this morning and left it open. I think it was a little faster.

Do I have an alda on a 83 motor?. Mike
vstech has shown you the pipe (well a pipe) going to the ALDA - this goes to the connection on the manifold...

...the other problem you're experiencing is probably due to the differential gearing. Past about 2500 - 3000 rpm the car is going to make more noise than movement - well it will feel that way! You are going to be very quick off the line - traffic light king - but even the sparrows will pass you once you've gone further than six paces...

...especially if you have the 3.64 240D differential. (A non turbo OM617 has a 3.46 {four and six positions have changed} - a turbo OM617 {OM617a to its friends} has a 3.07 or a 2.88)
