CYCLOCROSS!
I got an alloy-frame mountain bike with a few issues for free. New 1.5" road tires, hammered one of the chainrings straight, slapped on some lights and a bell and I have a perfect city and touring bike.
Good replacement for the 240D, may it R.I.P. I've been doing about 15-20 miles a day (15 is basically commuting). Lost about 15 lb so far since late March, shooting for another 10-15 lb.
I went riding in the Watchung Mountains of NJ on Sunday, about 1500' total rise and fall. Hills that I found difficult in high school seemed like child's play. Still got winded on one segment of 20% grade though.
