I just learned that my '81 300D has a transmission out of a '84 or '85 500SEC, behind a 617. ??? motor.

While under the car I looked at the modulator It's RED. Is this correct? some sites I've go to show a black valve and others show a red one.

What effect will the modulator from a W123 have on a W126 transmission?
