I think it was 81 240D that the engine was increased in HP (72?) and they went to the Pencil Glow Plugs.
The Pre Chambers have the rounded ends.

77 - 79 was the lower HP (67?) and the larger loop style GP`s.
The PC`s have the angled ends.

The dividing line on the Injection Pumps would be here also.

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto
