NZScott got it.
Take the VCV off and keep it as it is NLA as I remember.
You may need it if you get a W123 or W126SD, they were used on those auto trans.
Or some one else may be looking for one.

I have seen the VCV`s on 240`s in the yards with manual gear boxes. probably a trans swap and they left it on not knowing what it is or does.

Come to think of it, my 82 240 parts car has one.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
