Can't tell in your photo, but sounds like the rubber isolator split. That happened in my 1985 300D years ago when driving home. I thought I was running low on fuel (low on the gage). Turns out pressing the accelerator wasn't moving the engine off idle. At that time, I removed and wrapped steel wired around it to keep the rubber closed since new ones cost ~$90. Since then, I have a bag of spares from junkyards. But, I didn't notice a difference with the rubber missing, so a solid fix will work someday when there are no decent spares. They put many such comfort items in these cars for the spoiled rich that aren't really needed and decrease reliability.
