You can do it by dropping the center support bearing, loosen the center nut so the spline and slide freely then drop transmission X member while leaving the rear flex disk still attached. Both the transmission end and differential end have a long center bolt that sticks into the center of the flex disk so its crucial that you can slide the 2 halves of the DS closer together at the center support spline. Theres a bit of awkward brute force involved at this point.
