Guys, any of the cars from early 80s through at least the last production date of 126 and perhaps other cars use the same plastic part. Push the entire plastic piece out, refresh the broken piece and reinstall. This means that the striker becomes neither side or front/rear specific.

I tried replacing the plastic with wood and never could get it to work.

When at the yard with intent to remove striker: Spray all 4 with at least something better than WD. Clean the bolt head then using a 5mm SOCKET, pound the socket into the bolt head. Undo the bolts. I've taken to using a manual impact that I bought years ago from Sears when the only other impact used air and was expensive.

You can drill the bolts out. Easy outs have worked for me too. The bolts aren't stuck hard, just hard enough to strip the heads.
