Engine temp is not connected to anything with the fuel supply nor the work you did.

Check that the coolant is full, if yes...

The thermostat needs to be replaced and is a critical item, be certain to use a GOOD one. Start soaking the three thermostat housing bolts with penetrating oil every day a few days in advance while the engine is warm but not hot.
