I think this is a different problem, a thermostat failed open. The thermostat housing is where the coolant hoses at the front of the engine come together. It might also be a bubble in the system too.
It looks easy to change but the lower bolt on the 3-bolt flange is usually corroded in place and easy to break. I've got spares on hand, but that means changing the whole housing and re-sealing it to the engine block.
Make sure the system is full of coolant and rev it up to pump any bubbles through
Without a spare housing, I wouldn't try and take the thermostat housing off without tools to drill out a broken bolt and either tap the hole to a larger size or just drill through the flange and put a nut on the back side of a new bolt.
