Dude, I posted the drawings of 617-> GM many times before. Also, I have a GM->617 plate sitting in my shed right now. It's going to need offset pins, but that's no big deal.
You will also need a flywheel from the newer GM small blocks with 1 piece rear mains. That has an appropriate circle to be redrilled for the 617 12 bolt pattern.
VW flywheel bolts are also M10x1 and come in many flavors. You can find one that's the correct length to bolt the GM flywheel to the 617 crank.
If you use a 3/8" plate, and a chevy flywheel, it should space the clutch to just about right.
