$3000 buys a much lower mileage 320 gasser in much better condition with an engine that's just as reliable but easier to work on. On top of that the gasoline w211s are covered under the 15 year unlimited mileage fuel system warranty.
You have to really want the CDI just because.

What's so non DIY friendly about the W211 OM648?
I'd rather own a CDI than an E320/E430, both engines GULP fuel like no tomorrow, my brother and I always joke about selling the wagon for another diesel.
What's so bad about the OM648?
