I have the supersprint exhaust and I love the sound. The trimming of the bumper is required because even though the muffler clears the lip it still vibrates against the bumper and can get very irritating.
Eisemann makes exhausts for the W124 that use the stock exhaust gap however their tips are BMW 'M5 ish', worth considering though.
