The RO systems have very low pressure in the tank (<15PSI) and will cause the ice fill cycle to short-fill the mold in the icemaker. Some very old icemakers had an adjustment for the fill time that you could compensate, but pretty much anything made in the last 20 years will not. There's a flow washer in the fill valve that expects a certain pressure range to produce the correct flow rate vs. time for the fill cycle.

So yes, it'll work, but no, it won't work well. If you want filtered water to the fridge, you're better off buying one of the commercial style "ice machine" filter cartridges. They'll last months if not years in a residential application.
