i have (2) 2005 e320 cdi's and i've been able to get the liquimoly 5w-30 full synthetic that meets the spec for $70 for (2) 5 L jugs.....last time around they accidentally sent me this other stuff (Castro edge LL) that was actually around $50/ea for the 5 qt jug....this also met the spec so i used it.
i've been going 7500 as a baseline but i'm lazy and probably go over that number more often than not!

I had recently started using the Lubro-molly engine oil specified for diesels.

Its a bit expensive so I'd like to try another oil.

Does the 2005 CDI require synthetic or synthetic blend oil, and what manufacturers do you guys recommend?

Also, at what intervals do you recommend changing the oil?

Thanks
