That’s actually what happened.
I’ve had these door cards off a hundred times and replaced the vapor barriers with plastic sheeting a few years ago.
I didn’t properly align the vapor barrier with the clip holes and the brittle old pin collided and snapped.

Nbd now... the generic are identical to what was on there and went right in.
Having spares is great as I expect this to happen again in the future.
