Bug out packs are great for evading the black dhoppers, other than that they provide little value for major emergencies or environmental disasters when the entire region is trying to bug out at the same time.

Living in a hurricane zone, being prepped for hunkering down is key. You have more resources available to you at home to adapt to a situation. One thing is to not always follow the heard. I own diesel cars and generators because such a small portion of society uses them. When a hurricane is announced, gas pumps will be emptied in a couple of days....in over 30 years of hurricanes, I never once had a problem finding diesel. Storage of diesel at home is also easy, safe, long term, and with a diesel vehicle never goes to waste.

Having meds on hand and being able to handle first aid is helpful. With online pharmacies there is very little that you can't find and is worth having on hand. Also note, med expiry dates relate to the 100% efficacy of the active ingredient and are usually set to the halfway mark. Meaning if a tablet has a expiry date 2 years out, it's really 4years, and that is at 100%, which means even 5 years out it will still maintain a potency of 80% or greater, still effective for use.
