BUG OUT PACK

Be it earthquake, volcanic, weather, war, or CME, should not every household have a bug out kit?
Quick acess to medications, first aid, basic, water proof material, and space blanket. 30 days rations, water treatment, and firestarter. Change off clothes, socks.

We kinda have something like that. Maybe not as portable. Got the pop up camper fully stocked with canned goods, water, Propane etc. If anything happens could survive on what’s in therefor a lil while. Then I also have a chunk of land in the mountains that has some getaway stashes Of stuff

The most likely disaster is a man made economic one. If it ever occurs far too many people will be caught with there pants down. Even this virus situation has caught many.

A small percentage of older established Canadian families in Ontario have thrown in the towel in the last year and moved. To eastern Canada.

Far too much manipulation and immigration has occurred already there With no end in sight.. It has driven the cost of living to very high levels.

Who owns your house when property taxes are twelve thousand a year.Plus property insurance is six thousand a year? These types of rates apply to fairly modest properties. Plus the extreme levels of immigration create a saturated infustructure. With that situation of course come excess regulations as well. Plus crime has also grown too fast.

There is just too much hand writting on the wall there to ignore.

When the hurricanes hit Florida, it is interesting to watch the thousands of motorists trying to get out of town on Interstate-95 only to find the gas stations have no gasoline. Then the stressed out motorists get into fights in the middle of Interstate-95. All this happening while the more intelligent people chose to STAY HOME.

When an incoming hurricane is announced, Floridians move quickly to clean out grocery store shelves. Hard to buy food when the shelves are empty. This same BS happened during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and several other more recent hurricanes in Houston, Texas.

150mph winds.. 50 foot sea surges. I’d be getting out of there too. Not too many houses or shelters can handle that.

Post 'Space Blankets'

Yes, they work very well but not for long as they're quite flimsy .

For the cost of bug out kit. Is not a bad thing if it gives you any sense of security.

First though make sure you can function in your dwelling with the loss of electricity for extended periods. Very important in northern regions like ours. Generators are fine but fuel for them can produce issues.

We went through a four day power outage when some main distribution towers went down years ago.In the worse of winter. Far too many homes did not have any heat. Ours at the time was one of them.

On day two we went and stayed with friends.

I'm thinking more getting away from other folks. As mankind when faced with extremes will kill over anything.

Bug out packs are great for evading the black dhoppers, other than that they provide little value for major emergencies or environmental disasters when the entire region is trying to bug out at the same time.

Living in a hurricane zone, being prepped for hunkering down is key. You have more resources available to you at home to adapt to a situation. One thing is to not always follow the heard. I own diesel cars and generators because such a small portion of society uses them. When a hurricane is announced, gas pumps will be emptied in a couple of days....in over 30 years of hurricanes, I never once had a problem finding diesel. Storage of diesel at home is also easy, safe, long term, and with a diesel vehicle never goes to waste.

Having meds on hand and being able to handle first aid is helpful. With online pharmacies there is very little that you can't find and is worth having on hand. Also note, med expiry dates relate to the 100% efficacy of the active ingredient and are usually set to the halfway mark. Meaning if a tablet has a expiry date 2 years out, it's really 4years, and that is at 100%, which means even 5 years out it will still maintain a potency of 80% or greater, still effective for use.

My .02 cents

I always keep 30 gals. water bottled. If warning I would fill tub, and every pot. 130 gals wmo, half diesel , for heat.

Talking

I love hearing the paranoid mouth breathers go on about black helicopters, in Southern California they used to be very common, I'd seem them at least once every week and pointed them out to the paranoids at the police department .

Water is probably the single most important thing you need .
