Correction... As the throttle moves downward, all the linkage moves except the throttle rod on the pump. The slotted piece on the valve cover that moves the throttle rod doesn't start moving the throttle rod until the pedal is pushed down a good bit.

That's where the slop is coming from.

Is that normal?
