I recently looked at a 87 300 D turbo with some A/C problems. The A/C system has had all new hoses, but loses freon so the owner thinks the compressor is leaking.

My question is about the function of the blower fan should it come on when the fan buttons are activated even with no freon. The owner says the fan comes on sometimes. Would this be a problem with the pushbutton unit or the fan itself?

Any suggestions appreciated?
