I recall the CA DMV sells prestige blue/yell plates for $50 more, though most people buy the black/yell 1960's-style plates. Indeed, the later have become de-rigur on expensive new cars (Tesla, Audi,...) especially if a black body. They are more stylish than the blue/yell plates.

No, the plate I posted is just a picture I took from the internet to show that little plate in the top right hand corner. My car is a 79 and I got a blue plate that was originally issued in 79. I've already registered it at the DMV and I put the plate with the 79 sticker on the front and I'm waiting on the current stickers to put on the back plate.
