there's a tab on the steering lock assembly that breaks off. the lock cyl engages the column lock which then engages the ignition switch. i had 1 like this this past summer. pull the ign. sw. and look for loose pot metal. this 1 needed the column lock assy., which is nla. had to go used. it is possible the lock cyl has broken like that but not likely.
