Out of curiosity, why is he touching his nose?

I wonder if it's the way German peoples point to themselves.

In Japan, If someone is talking to you, like from across the room, and if you're not sure they are talking to you, you touch your index finger to you noise, and say "me?", or "are you talking to me?"

In American, we point to our chest with our index finger.

It's something I could never get used to. It seemed funny when the Japanese would touch their nose. Reminds me of a sobriety test.
