This term they use Ceramic, I think is a hype. I used Ceramic Inserts to cut hardened metal after heat treat, and cryo treatment, to save grinder operator time cutting parts to close to finish diameters. Unlike other inserts for machining, they are brittle, and won't take interruped cuts, like machining jaws for lathes.
So my understanding like tungsten which is a powder compressed like chalk, then melted to become a part, then machined. I would assume so is ceramic's too.
