He sold knives but he owns a office now. Like anything if you put in your time you can make serious $$$. I know many Amway people that get regular 10K+ checks a month but they worked their butt off to get it.

I don't personally belong to Cutco or Amway because my energy is more profitable doing what I was trained to do but I love the spirit of sales and hope you do well.

Keep in mind that Cutco is a great knife and should be very easy to sell if you believe in it. I personally use ED. wUsthof because they were a wedding gift but I had to buy a $150 sharpener to keep them straight because I am not proficient with a stick like the chef's.
