Vector Marketing

Hi.. has anyone ever worked for or heard of this company? Not sure if this is a scam or a real thing. Doing an online search I see some saying scam.. others saying its legit.

Either these guys, or someone just like them, came to my campus when I was in college 20 years ago; I attended the presentation but realized I wasn't cut out for that (no pun). I don't think it's a scam, it's just door-to-door sales, which is a tough way to earn money unless you really love sales. Be careful and make sure they don't get you to lay out serious cash for inventory - in MLM and this sort of business, I would guess that a very high percentage of people sign up, think it's a neat idea, and then lose enthusiasm - but they've already bought inventory which the company won't buy back.

I'm kind of surprised they're still doing it - door-to-door was pretty much over back then, I didn't even realize it was still around.

If this is the Vector that I'm thinking of, yep! Door-to-door knife sales. I think it's genuine, but the pay is based on how many appointments you make, which means that you have to be a driven salesman to get anywhere. I looked at them once a couple of years ago, and decided that I wouldn't have the drive to do it (I'm a lousy salesman unless it's something I really believe in). Judging by the other people at the mass interview that I went to, they mostly target teenagers...I'll bet that they have a high turnover rate.

In addition, you need to pay like $500 up front for a set of "display" knives...this was the deciding factor that turned me off; it seemed fishy.

Just my $.02...I would stay away.

I have a friend that started selling CUTCO back in 1990, today he is retired at 34 and it ****** loaded. We all made fun of him back then now he calls me in the middle of the day while I am working and turns the knife so to speak. Also Cutco are great knives.

Hey RS...

The meetings I went to with my friend did sound phony. Everyone was all excited about the possibilities of making so much money... but as we all know, making a fortune is never easy. So it did sound too good to be true. We went ahead and got the kit and are on our way to sell Cutco knives. You are right that they are great knives... and the guarantee on them is just as good. But will people be willing to buy them? I don't know.. I will soon find out. I have already scheduled "meetings" with my neighbors and family friends to show off these knives. I will see how it goes.

Now.. does your friend still sell knives or does he own an office where he "recruits" cutco sellers? Thanks for posting

He sold knives but he owns a office now. Like anything if you put in your time you can make serious $$$. I know many Amway people that get regular 10K+ checks a month but they worked their butt off to get it.

And in the spirit of hard work send me your catalog and I would like be your first customer. I need the "Fisherman’s Friend" Filet knife.

I don't personally belong to Cutco or Amway because my energy is more profitable doing what I was trained to do but I love the spirit of sales and hope you do well.

Keep in mind that Cutco is a great knife and should be very easy to sell if you believe in it. I personally use ED. wUsthof because they were a wedding gift but I had to buy a $150 sharpener to keep them straight because I am not proficient with a stick like the chef's.

Good luck and am looking forward to hearing from you PM me and I will give you my phone #.

In Westchester, NY, Cutco and other "door to door" sales companies recruit private school kids to do sales. The private school kids then sell to all their private school friends' parents. The students get some amusement out of doing the demonstration for their friends' parents (the amusement passes after a few sales) and the parents are then obligated to buy the knives from their friends' kids. Not a bad marketing strategy for the companies. My parents have a few Cutco knives from back when I was in high school.
