Can't remember which way-

But 1 tooth off in one direction is pistons hitting valves, the other is probably runnable. It should be noticable in terms of power and acceleration.
Have you checked the IP timing? Maybe it's too advanced??

Not that difficult to fix and it's important. Double check it and put your mind at rest. I drove mine with an aftermarket sprocket for 6 months. Car was terrible and timing was out maybe 8-10 degrees. Factory sprocket back in and it's a night/day difference in drivability with the timing dead-on.
