After removing the bolt securing the wiper arm to the wiper mechanism, on my car, the wiper arm just lifted up and off the mechanism -- no problem. Also, on my car, I believe that you can do the whole repair without removing the wiper arm.
On your 124, if memory serves, it is harder to remove the plastic cover over the wiper mechanism but the wiper arm itself should be just as easy to remove.
The web site instructions on greasing the wiper mechanism posted by 95300YDT-A in this thread are also very good.
