The end result would be btter than you can believe. I have a '77 with the Euro controls and love as opposed to all my other MBZs with the 300DT controls.

You'd have to pull the dash to install it and then discard a few things under the hood such as the aux water pump, etc.

Unfortunately, the car would be down for at least a couple of days. All the 280TEs came with the Euro controls, so there is an alternative of finding a defunct 280TE and swapping engines. Might actually be easier and less electrical problems if you don't mange to connect everything up correctly.

I'm convert a 280CE to diesel and it is a Euro with good a/c and a 5 speed manual. v
