I drove a 1981 300sd yesterday and the pickup was not what I thought it should be - I am driving another tonight to compare - but I am looking to see what everybody thinks. Pushing on the pedal was hard and off the line it seemed a bit sluggish? What should it be like?

Besides that the car was in great shape - the only other problem seemed to be the drive side floor carpet was moist - no rust in the floor pans or the rest of the car - should I be concerned?
