1981 300SD - Question before Purchasing
I drove a 1981 300sd yesterday and the pickup was not what I thought it should be - I am driving another tonight to compare - but I am looking to see what everybody thinks. Pushing on the pedal was hard and off the line it seemed a bit sluggish? What should it be like?
Besides that the car was in great shape - the only other problem seemed to be the drive side floor carpet was moist - no rust in the floor pans or the rest of the car - should I be concerned? |

My turbo 300D will outrun the SD in a drag race.
What part of the country are you located in? I know of at least two people looking for a W126 in good condition.

1981 300sd
I am in the Northwest - I am glad to hear your 300 D will outrun the SD in a drag race - but how about somebody who has a SD possibly an 81 - how should it feel when you are getting left in the smoke by "engatwork" in his 300 D -
thanks |

0-60mph should take no more than 15 seconds if the car is in a good state of tune. I had an 81 SD and an 83 SD and both had good power right off the line. Didn't have much after the initial punch until the turbo kicked in. In comparison, the SDL gets off to gentle starts but reels in the road beyond 2000rpm.
