Thanks for the note. I've also read a post about the cold start injector leaking and causing the problem - checked that last night and doesn't seem to be the case.

But, Steve, I can't get the logic behind the head gasket being the problem. The symptoms just don't seem right to me. I suspect maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. Could you have corrected the problem while changing the gasket? Has your problem been totally solved now? Was it exactly the same?
