Engine mis fire at low revs 300CE Coupe
Hi,
I have an '89 300CE Coupe 3sp Auto. At low revs and worse when engine is warm I get a bad mis fire - the engine has no power at all. The only way to get going is to use very light throttle to get the speed and revs up a little or use low range - once over about 1500rpm it performs fine with no hint of the problem. Also the car is a little reluctant to start - have to use lots of pedal I'm suspecting high tension plug leads - am I correct? Cheers Rich Last edited by crazyquiff; 05-12-2004 at 09:09 AM. |

Check your plugs, if one of them is moist your head gasket is gone. I just replaced one on my 92 300 CE that had the same problem.
Cheers, Steve

Steve,
Thanks for the note. I've also read a post about the cold start injector leaking and causing the problem - checked that last night and doesn't seem to be the case. But, Steve, I can't get the logic behind the head gasket being the problem. The symptoms just don't seem right to me. I suspect maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. Could you have corrected the problem while changing the gasket? Has your problem been totally solved now? Was it exactly the same? Cheers Rich |

Problem sorted - damp in the dizzy cap - so i dried it out and cleaned up all the posts and rotor arm.
No cost solution! |
