Rear speakers out - where do they go?
This is coming from a novice here, so please have patience with my questions....
I keep hearing that taking out the rear speakers make ideal ports for subwoofers in the trunk. Do the rear speakers get installed anyplace else or is one just left with the front dash + front door speakers plus the subwoofers (in the trunk)?
mail2neil - if you mounted your subs under the first aid area, doesn't the (first aid) cover obstruct the sound? Or did you remove the cover? And the subs are showing on the shelf?
Maybe the pictures would be helpful, if you please....
I saw a nice picture of an install where the (first aid) cover (recovered with a light, airy fabric) was used over the subs however, I would think it would obstruct the sound, as the lid is solid plastic, unless numerous holes were drilled in it?
I pushed out the rear speakers in my '91 300E by getting in the (empty) trunk (laying on my back, looking up into the speakers) and working the clips (that fastened the speakers down) loose with a screwdriver....didn't take much effort, but perhaps your car is different?
